States' Rights
States' Rights is the freedoms or rights the states have. The Bill of Rights 10th amendment gives states rights that are not given to the nation. But the states are not allowed to over ride the national laws. During the civil war the northern states were- OH, MA, RH, PA, NJ, VT, NH, IN, IL and the southern states were- DE, VA, NC, SC, GA, LA, TN, AL, MS, MD there was fight over new states because of power in congress.
Abraham Lincoln
At the time Abraham Lincoln was running to be president. None of the southern states voted for him because he was anti-slavery and for big government. At the time there was more anti-slavery states (Northern) states then there was anti-slave (Southern) states, So he ended up becoming the president of the United States of America.
